The Fray to perform for the first time ever in South Africa

An international acclaimed rock band is set to wow South Africans during a two day performance.

South African fans of, The Fray, will be excited to learn that their beloved band will be coming to South Africa for the first time ever. The chart topping rock band is set to wow fans with all their well-known hits.

According to Dionne Domyan, promoter for the upcoming concert, the rock band has recently confirmed two dates for September 2014 in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

“This will be the first time The Fray will perform in South Africa and fans will be treated to a concert of all their hits and more,” she said.

Domyan added that tickets would be available at Computicket and the Big Concerts website. The Johannesburg performance will take place at the Coca-Cola dome on 19 September while the Cape Town show will be at the Grand Arena in GrandWest on 20 September.

The Fray rose to prominence with the release of hits such as How to Save a Life and Over my Head and consists of frontman Isaac Slade, Joe King (guitar and vocals), Dave Welsh (guitar) and Ben Wysocki (drums).

The band was formed in 2002 after high school friends Slade and King met at a local guitar shop and went on to achieve national success with their first single ‘Over My Head’, which became a top ten hit nationally.

It was however, the release of their second single ‘How To Save A Life’ that brought them into the international spotlight, with the album going double platinum and earning a 2010 Grammy nomination.

The band recently released another critically acclaimed album titled Helios, which spawned the top ten hit Love Don’t Die.

The concert is presented by Big Concerts, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and M-Net. Tickets go on sale for Johannesburg and Cape Town on 28 March 2014 at www.bigconcerts.co.za and Computicket.
