Unity College to host open day

BROADACRES- Unity College will host an open day on 20 March to give parents of potential pupils a chance to experience a typical day at the school.

Unity College is a special needs school on Cedar Road for pupils who are mildly to moderately intellectually challenged. The college caters for students from six to 20 years old.

Michelle Kirk of Unity College explained that the aim of the open day is for parents to get a keyhole view into a typical day at Unity College.

“We pride ourselves on being a school with an integrated learning programme, covering all the facets of development: cognitive, physical, social and vocational,” she said.

Some of the activities and lessons that parents and potential pupils can involve themselves in on the day are crafting, literacy and numeracy, cookery, carpentry and sign language.

Kirk said that visitors are also encouraged to engage with the pupils and staff during the open day.
