Two armed robbers bust

FOURWAYS - Police's quick reaction led to the arrest of two armed robbers.

The two men aged 22 and 27 were arrested in Diepsloot after they robbed a 31-year-old security guard at gunpoint in Mnandi.

It is believed the suspects robbed the on-duty security guard of his loaded service pistol, a cell phone and car keys.

The victim arrived at Diepsloot police station at around 7am on 6 March and officers were immediately dispatched to track the culprits. With the help of the security guard they spotted the suspects in Extension 11. Police officers chased the suspects on foot and arrested the two suspects.

Two handguns and ammunition were recovered. One of the guns is believed to be the one stolen from the security guard earlier.

The two suspects will be charged with armed robbery and possession of unlawful firearms and ammunition. They will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
