The police and City Power targeted scrapyards in the area, searching through piles of metal and wire in the scrapyards.
Owners and foremen of scrapyards were questioned by police and City Power and asked to produce documentation to prove their ownership of the metal and copper wire found in their possession.
The police confiscated a large amount of metal piping and copper wire on the day.
According to Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, two arrests were made during the operation.
“All the property that was confiscated has been identified and will be handed back to the lawful owners like City Power and Telkom,” he said.
