Getting fit for free at Monte

MAGALIESSIG- The launch of SunFit's free exercise classes at Montecasino saw a host of South African celebrities sweating it out on the grassy lawns behind the Piazza.

Lifestyle and wellness expert Lisa Raleigh hosted the launch. Raleigh has been a trainer on The Biggest Loser and co-presents SABC 3’s health talk show Doctor’s Orders. She is also the wellness consultant on SABC 3’s morning magazine show Expresso. She started the SunFit classes with the help of various sponsors in 2006 to offer the public a free and convenient way to exercise every day.

“South Africa is the third most obese nation in the world and we need to do something about it,” Raleigh said. “The aim of SunFit is to make exercise free for all South Africans because wellness is our right.”

Celebrities such as Jacinda Louw of Survivor fame and ENCA sports anchor Wardah Hartley had a taste of zumba before doing a relaxing but intense yoga class.

The SunFit classes will be held on the grassy area behind the Piazza at Montecasino. They will run from Monday to Friday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm and Saturday mornings at 7am to 8am and 8:15am to 9:15am. On Mondays you can kick yourself into action with a kickboxing class; on Tuesdays you can dance your stress away with zumba; Wednesdays are for fitness fanatics with boot camp; on Thursdays you can find your zen with yoga; on Fridays you can improve your strength with core fit; and on Saturdays you can start off your weekend with some dancing by getting an extra dose of zumba.

“All you need to do is show up with a good attitude, energy and a bottle of water,” Raleigh said.
