First day for children at Crawford Pre-primary Lonehill

LONEHILL - The first day of school at Crawford Pre-Primary Lonehill was off to a great start as soon as pupilswere introduced to their teachers and classmates.

Principle of Crawford Pre-Primary Lonehill, Ros Truelock said it was a great experience, “We have a lovely staff to cater to the children and we have a had very few tears today. It was more of the moms and dads crying than the kids who are than delighted to be here”.

It was the first day for many children who were being enrolled into grade 0, 00 and 000.

Assistant teacher Jade More was looking forward to meeting and teaching new children.

“So far it’s been fantastic, many children are excited to be here learning and being around other children. There were few tears but they quickly blending in,” More said. Children were seen playing on the playground soon after their parents left.

Grade 000 learner Theanna Chetty (3) is happy to be at school. Many children were pre-occupied with the activities in the playground to worry about being separated from their parents.

Truelock’s plans for 2014 include introducing philosophy for children ( P4C) that entails discussions where children are given a platform to speak and think freely. In addition to encouraging communication and listening skills. Not forgetting children having fun while learning.
