Top cops honoured

FOURWAYS - Top Cop Awards celebrate officers' outstanding achievements and dedication to the police force.

Sandton Police Station hosted its third awards this year and honoured the work and commitment of individuals to the force and the community.

Presented by Commander Brigadier Alan Billings and chairperson of the Sandton Community Police Forum, Wendy Vorster-Robertson certificates and vouchers were presented to officers who went the extra-mile in supporting the community, following up on administration duties and guaranteeing excellence in the field.

The winner for support services went to Constable Refilwe Madingwane for all the hard work she has done in analysing crime. She ensured members were posted productively, and aware of current modi operandi and changes in trends.

An award was given to Constable Elliot Bango for visible policing in administrative duties. He guaranteed that all current information was relayed to the relevant officers and reaction teams in a professional manner.

Captain Richard Semenya earned an award for operational service for his goal-orientated attitude. He ensured targets were met in the fight towards bringing crime down. Members are always happy and willing to work with him as he has a hands-on approach.

Warrant Officer Alfred Odendaal was presented an award for the most efficient detective work. Odendaal was the investigating officer on the Morningside double-murder case and his investigation led to the arrest of two suspects.
