Another follow-home robbery

MAGALIESSIG - 'Follow-home' robbers hit City Lodge Fourways.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan from Douglasdale police Station has confirmed that the robbery at City Lodge Fourways on 13 November was due to a follow-home robbery from OR Tambo International airport.

Late September, another of these robberies shook Magaliessig, when one man was gunned downed on Troupant Avenue, following the same style robbery tactic.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, said follow-home robberies usually end up as driveway robberies.
According to her, victims are often followed from banks.

She advised that drivers should be cautious if they think they are being followed, and phone 10111 if they feel ill at ease.

“They should give particulars of the vehicle, and not stop.”

According to Cloete, spotters are planted at banks to keep an eye out for people drawing large amounts of cash. The best way to combat this is to change routines.
