Constable Grant Marillier of the Douglasdale police said that they had received numerous complaints from motorists of intimidation and harassment by a group of men who often stood near Sunset Boulevard looking for work.
He said, “The raid was conducted to search for any possible illegal immigrants among the group.”
A total of 34 men were arrested during the raid and were being held at Douglasdale police station.
Constable Marillier said, “We will investigate to see if the arrested men have the correct papers, but if their papers are not in order they will be deported to their respective countries.”
