Milking it for charity

DOUGLASDALE - Every year, the Coca-Cola Dome is transformed into a culinary dream when the Good Food and Wine Show comes to Johannesburg to share the latest trends, top celebrity chefs and culinary excellence.

This year was no exception and Douglasdale Dairy took full advantage of the opportunity to showcase its locally produced quality dairy products when it partnered with Snowflake.

Milk and cookies were sold for R10 at the Douglasdale Dairy stand and the proceeds were used to raise funds for the Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a daily meal for extremely poor and at-risk school children in South Africa.

Sales of the milk and cookies raised over R11 000 which translated into the provision of 4 592 meals for hungry children.

For the duration of the show, the Douglasdale team gave out 6 500 recipe books, plenty of Amasi Enkosi samples, and 3 700 bottles of 250ml milk.

Douglasdale cream has been a favourite amongst consumers in Gauteng for years, and MasterChef South Africa season two winner Kamini Pather also seemed to love it, as she requested the brand for her cooking demonstration at the Real Food Theatre. Sisters Leandri and Seline Van der Wat, who were the runners up in MasteChef, visited the stand and had a photograph with the Douglasdale team.
