Murdered over a bottle of beer

DOUGLASDALE - Police arrested a man and charged him with murder after he stabbed another man in the throat and head, after an argument over a bottle of beer.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, communications officer at the station, said on 18 October at about 11pm, police were called out to Dumping in Kya Sands, where the 34-year-old suspect had stabbed a 27-year-old  male.
Muthan said the suspect fled, leaving his victim dead at the scene. “Detective Constable Gregory Higgs and Constable Ridge Motang attended the scene and started tracing the suspect,” Muthan said.

Muthan said the two officers received a tip off that lead them to a house in Northcliff, where the suspect peddled dagga. “A sting operation was set up and the suspect was arrested on 23 October at about 2pm.”

Muthan said charges of murder as well as possession of dagga were brought against the suspect.
