Pupils adopt trees

As part of their Arbor week celebration Diepsloot High School planted and adopted trees.

For Arbor Day, Diepsloot’s buy back centre, Bontle ke tlhago co-operative received trees from different nurseries and organisations and donated them to schools in Diepsloot.

On the day Grade 12 pupils were able to adopt a tree and choose a name for it.

They then tagged each of their trees with their name and the name they had chosen for the tree.

This highlighted the importance of individual trees in the environment and gave the pupils a sense of responsibility for the trees they had adopted.

The event taught the pupils of Diepsloot High School about the importance of preserving trees.
