Vox pop: What do you feel about the next election?

Fourways Review asked young people about their attitude to the elections. This is what they had to say…

Elections are often seen as an opportunity to bring forth leaders who can effectively govern and make sound decisions for the betterment of society. People hope that elected officials will be competent, knowledgeable, and capable of addressing the challenges and needs of the nation.

Fourways Review asked young people about their attitude to the elections. This is what they had to say…

Sipenathi Mdlazi (31): I don’t have any interest in all the politics, because I know if the ANC is still leading us then nothing new will happen- except for corruption. Yes, I have registered I know my vote will mean something even though they won’t be any change, especially with youth that doesn’t want to vote and the old people who always vote for and believe in the ANC.
Claudia Mthobeni (25): Change needs to start locally. By the look of things, all these parties want to lead so that they can get a chance to eat our tax money. All of them are corrupt. They have corruption scandals- nothing will change South Africa. I have given up on it, I’m just worried about our kids. Soon we will be like Zimbabwe. No, I have not registered because I feel like I will be wasting my time by voting.
Ndalo Poswa (20): I don’t have any hope that the ANC will lose the elections. By the look of things the EFF is doing great, especially after their 10th anniversary that took place at FNB Stadium. I really hope and pray for a different party to lead. We need fresh and educated minds to lead South Africa. Yes, I have registered, and I will vote ANC out, and EFF in.
Scelo Ndlamini (32): Come 2024 I am going with the EFF, both provincially and nationally. I hope they come to power. No coalition will make a difference here, let’s just give other parties an opportunity to lead and see if there won’t be any change. Julius Malema said it all: we need fresh and educated minds not the old minds that are leading us.
