Crawford International Lonehill Preparatory’s music learners excelled at the National Eisteddfod’s Young Performer Awards

Grade 5 and 6 learners Victor Zeelie and Robert Hurly both reached the semi-finals of this national competition. To qualify for this competition, the learners had to earn a diploma in last year’s Eisteddfod.

Of the 5 674 entries received in 2022, 1 002 diploma winners qualified to compete in this year’s awards. Only 100 learners reached the semi-finals with Victor representing the school in classical piano and Robert in voice. This was Robert’s second time reaching the semi-finals while Victor performed in the final round in 2022.

“This year our music department is especially proud of the two boys who reached the semi-final round of the National Eisteddfod’s Young Performer Awards. Also, Tafadzwa Marima, one of the school’s star drummers, delighted audiences with his upbeat performance at the biannual Senior Soirée,” said Heidi Lenz, music teacher at Crawford International Lonehill Preparatory.
“Here at Crawford Prep, learners are given the opportunity to take international music examinations from either the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Trinity College London, The London School of Music, or Trinity Rock and Pop, with the average mark received in these exams being a distinction.”
