Fourways Hospital surgeon buys poverty sucks lollipops

Life Fourways Hospital's specialist general surgeon buys Poverty Sucks lollipops.

Life Fourways Hospital’s specialist general surgeon, Dr Mark David Jose takes up the Poverty Sucks fundraising campaign.

Jose commends the hard work being done by Jaci Tibbit and the campaign, as one can make a difference if they play their part. “I was first introduced to the campaign by one of our colleagues. They explained to me that the campaign aims to tackle poverty in poor communities. I believe if we all play our roles, a lot can be achieved and I think by taking part in the campaign I will be playing my part and also helping our nursing staff have a better day by giving them some lollipops,” he said.

Jaci Tabbit and Dr Mark Jose push the poverty sucks campaign forward.

Poverty Sucks is a Role Models Foundation initiative headed by Tibbit. They sell lollipops at R10 each and buy food parcels with the proceeds to reduce the effects of poverty in communities.

Tibbit believes that the campaign makes a huge difference and hopes for more residents and businesses to take part and help the less fortunate to have decent meals. “I would like to thank Dr Jose for taking up the challenge to help feed the less fortunate, I hope this inspires more people to help us make a change in our communities,” she said.

Interested parties can get involved with the campaign on the Facebook page, Poverty Sucks – Lollipops for Charity or contact Jaci Tibbit on 082 872 8474.
