VOX POP: Are community meetings with ward councillors and police effective?

Many Fourways residents spoke on the effectiveness of community meetings where issues of crime, safety and service delivery were addressed.

Elizabetyh Pereira: I think these meetings are really important. We as residents get to understand what the limits of the JMPD are, and the same with the police. I learned a lot tonight, such as not phoning the police for menial issues and let them deal with more important situations.

Fourways Review asked community members at a recent meeting whether collaborations with police and other community organisations are effective.

With entities like Douglasdale police, Community Policing Forum, JMPD (Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department) and ward councillors, residents got to voice their concerns and queries on various issues. Feedback was also presented on a number of concerns.

The Fourways Review asked residents if they feel community meetings show some effectiveness and difference in the community.
