Fourways Rotarians share their time overseas

Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club members part of the youth exchange programme returned to the country with tales of their adventures overseas.

The youth exchange programme saw its members attend their first Rotary meeting of the year to chat about their overseas trips to various Rotary clubs.
Members from South Africa, Rebecca Arthur, Claire Green and Hannah Charles gave presentations of their trips to the other members of the club. There was another visitor to the club as well, Merlina Frugoni from Argentina who also presented facts about her country. Both Claire and Rebecca had visited different parts of France, whereas Hannah visited Argentina and returned with Merlina who would be hosted by Hannah’s family.

“My impression of South Africa has been so different than what I first thought. I’m enjoying my time here and have been able to visit a lot of different places,” said Merlina about her time in the country so far.

Club president of the Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club, Jobst Schulte-Brader congratulated the youth members for the completion of their trips and welcomed them back home.
Fellow member Lexi Katsivalis heads the youth exchange programme for Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club. She was part of the programme when she was in school and in 2014, she visited Germany for a year.

“It’s [exchange programme] an international network of good faith where we send someone overseas, and welcome a learner to our shores,” she said.
