South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind ready to celebrate 70th birthday with family fun day

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is set to host the community for their annual family fun day event.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind will be hosting its annual family fun day event on March 5 at the facility.

The theme for this year’s event is a birthday bash in celebration of their 70th birthday this year, as told by the regional marketing manager for the association, Nicole Barros. “The purpose of this event is to raise much-needed funds to continue changing the lives of visually and physically disabled individuals in our country,” she said.
“We have a fun-filled programme planned for the day with lots of exciting activities. Our puppies in training are practising hard to put their best paw forward along with their trainers.”
The kennel staff are getting ready to share information with visitors during the kennel tours whilst interesting demonstrations from the assistance, service, and guide dogs await spectators in the arena. There will also be dog races throughout the day.

The facility’s orientation and mobility team are also preparing various interesting activities where visitors will be challenged to step out of their comfort zone and into the shoes of a visually impaired person.
There is also a kids’ zone which promises to be a lot of fun for the little ones. Attendees can enjoy all the entertainment in the arena while sipping on some bubbly at the beer garden and enjoying the various food and interesting items for sale from the many vendors present on the day.
“We are proudly sponsored by Suzuki Kyalami and MixFm will be live broadcasting from our premises. We appeal to the public to support us in our ongoing mission to continue changing lives for the visually and physically disabled,” said Barros.
