[Update: 13:00 February 2]

At first, the crowd did not welcome Skosana and was disappointed at the lack of Eskom’s representatives, however, StandUpSA founder Khustaz Mtwentwe managed to calm the crown down before reading the memorandum.  The extensive list was formulated based on a public participation process where the organisation asked people what they wanted.

Upon receiving the memorandum, Skosana told the crowd he has noted the demands, will take them back to Eskom and they [Eskom] will respond within 30 days. He said he is also affected by load-shedding and does not have power at home. Many in the crowd voiced their disbelief at this, saying he is not telling the truth.
