Kyalami Corner donates stationery and necessities to Noordwyk children’s home

The work began in the festive season for Kyalami Corner as they opened their stationery drive to the community with items for a Noordwyk-based children’s home.

The community outreach efforts during the festive season done by a local shopping centre paid off after a recent donation to a children’s home.

During the festive season last year, Kyalami Corner hosted an outreach campaign which entailed a stationery drive part of their event held to usher in the festive season. The Kyalami Schools Group, consisting of Beaulieu College, Beaulieu Preparatory School and Kyalami Preparatory, was part of the Christmas Carols on the Corner in conjunction with the shopping centre.
The campaign had attendees donate stationery for the drive, which was set to be donated to Yenzani Children’s Home based in Noordwyk which has been operating since 2003.

Marketing manager at Kyalami Corner Daphney Teffo, house mother at Yenzani Children’s Home Connie Mosetla and Jacob Mphiwe of Yenzani Children’s Home with the donated items from the stationery drive.

Marketing manager of Kyalami Corner Daphney Teffo said the stationery items did not only come from shoppers’ donating, but also from the centre purchasing items. “[All this was to ensure] that the children of Yenzani could start the academic year on a good note – thus restoring their dignity,” she said.

“Their core values are community, personal growth and quality care which resonate with the shopping centre’s objectives, hence, the opportunity to give back to the Yenzani through this initiative. Yenzani’s mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that improves lives and empowering the children, protecting them from abuse, and defend their rights.”
The children’s home looks after 14 children and it is a home for orphaned, abused, neglected and abandoned children left vulnerable and in crisis.
