Inaugural CricFest tournament at Fourways High School sees Hoërskool Monument crowned winners

Hoërskool Monument was the crowned winner of the inaugural event hosted at Fourways High School.

Fourways High School recently hosted 11 schools for an inaugural cricket tournament that saw incredible batting and bowling.

The newly launched CricFest Tournament adopted a 100-ball format and brought a different element to the matches played. Round-robin games had taken place for the first three days of the tournament with teams looking for a place in the semi-finals and final on the last day.

In the semi-final matches, one featured Randpark High School and Hoërskool Monument, and the second had Dr E.G Jansen against Dainfern College.
With the final match set to feature the Dr. E.G Jansen and Hoërskool Monument teams, spectators were ready to be treated to a thriller. The former team posted a total of 135 runs for Monument to chase down. The match was a nail-biter until the end as Hoërskool Monument demonstrated their excellence in the field and bowling which led to them winning and being named tournament winners.

Kerry Ellis-Williams who is part of the marketing team at Fourways High School thanked the sponsors involved in the tournament.
“The event would not have been a success were it not for the incredible support of our sponsors. A big thank you to Energade who ensured that all players recovered swiftly between their innings. Thank you also to Kingfisher Spar, Planet Fitness, Sportsmans Warehouse, and DTS Sports for your invaluable contributions,” she said.

At the prize-giving ceremony, awards were handed to the following players:

  • Man of the Match in semi-final one: Keagan van Wyk
  • Man of the Match in semi-final two: James van der Merwe
  • Bowler of the tournament: Adrian Ristow from Dr E. G. Jansen
  • Batsman of the tournament: Bryce Jose from Randpark High School
  • Man of the Match in the final: Simon Paulglace
