Crawford International Lonehill top achiever had an overwhelming matric journey

The scintillating matriculant said she is proud of herself as she always did her best and put much of her energy and time into her studies.

Doing the hard work and getting top-notch results definitely has its rewards.

Kyalami-based and Crawford International Lonehill matric top achiever Caitanya Moodley defines her matric year as an overwhelming journey that needed discipline.

The 18-year-old self-believer achieved an overall average of 94.46% and eight distinctions. She explained that prior to her matric year, there were misconceptions that Grade 11 was more difficult than Grade 12.

She got distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, life sciences, life orientation, mathematics, physical science, and further studies mathematics. Also placed in the top 1% in subjects nationally in the IEB examinations for accounting, Afrikaans, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, and physical sciences.

“My matric journey was difficult, because when you start your matric a lot of people say that Grade 11 is more difficult, but I found out that when you do matric everything is very overwhelming because you have tests, assignments, as well as have to start applying for university,” said Caitanya.

Crawford International Lonehill top achiever Caitanya Moodley (18) bagged eight distinctions.

“I found that quite difficult to balance all of that in my life. I just wanted to do my best and I think what motivated me because I always had a sense of wanting to achieve more.”

The scintillating matriculant said she is proud of herself as she always did her best and put much of her energy and time into her studies.

Caitanya has been accepted by the University of Pretoria to study BSc in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics.

She advises the Class of 2023 to enjoy their last year of school, but also to work very hard and make sure that they are taking care of themselves more and getting enough sleep.

“Most important thing I did in preparation for my exams was to stay organised from the beginning of the year. I had a plan as to how I was going to study, and I also had a timetable to plan what I needed to study. A strong sense of belief is important. Believe in yourself and your capabilities,” she concluded.
