Runny Mead and Watercomb Road in Chartwell washed away during recent heavy rain

Ward 96 councillor says he has compiled a report that he will present to the MMC for Transport.

Ward 96 councillor Rufus Maswazi has urged Chartwell and Farmall communities to report all damaged gravel roads to his office.

Maswazi said many gravel roads in these communities were eroded following recent heavy rain.

Affected roads include Runny Mead and Watercombe Road which connect the Chartwell and Broadacres communities.

“Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) fixed these roads last year before the rainy season. It is sad that all the good work that was done here last year has been washed away by floods that we had in December.”

The councillor said he has compiled a report and will request JRA to help re-gravel the affected roads.

“The recent rains had a negative impact on our gravel roads across ward 96. We are hoping that Johannesburg Road Agency will help us fix these roads. I will personally present this matter to the MMC of Transport Funzi Ngobeni and I am hoping to get a positive response.”

The Fourways Review contacted JRA for comment on the matter but JRA did not respond at the time of going to print. Their response to our questions will be published as soon as they are received.
