David Foley writes to Roads and Transport MEC about the state of provincial roads in Fourways area

Foley said dysfunctional traffic light, potholes and uncut grass were some of the issues he raised with the email sent to the office of the MEC.

Ward 94 councillor David Foley said he had written a letter to the MEC of Roads and Transport Kedibone Diale to raise his concerns about the state of a number of provincial roads in and around Fourways.

Foley said dysfunctional traffic lights, potholes and uncut grass along William Nicol Drive, Main Road, Cedar Road and Erling Road were some of the issues he raised in an email sent to the office of the MEC. “I needed to bring the state of traffic lights and roads in Fourways, Johannesburg to the attention of the MEC for Roads and Transport Kedibone Diale. These roads that I’ve mentioned are under provincial administration and need urgent attention,” Foley said.

“Traffic lights at the various intersections which are the responsibility of the province are not working regularly and it takes weeks to months to get them attended to although a turnaround time is 14 days as per communication of the Department of Roads and Transport. There have been many accidents at various intersections because of the non-functioning of the traffic lights.”

The spokesperson in the Department of Roads and Transport Lesiba Mpya said he was not aware of the communication from Foley but he would look into the issues raised.
