Fourways dojo cheers for athletes who achieved medals in recent district and national competitions

Between a number of various competitions and championships, Fourways Martial Arts Academy had added 76 medals to their cabinet thanks to their successful athletes.

Local martial artists from a Fourways dojo clinched 76 medals in competitions.

Fourways Martial Arts Academy celebrated 25 of its members who took home medals from the Gauteng Trials that took place in 2022 and the recent Karate South Africa (KSA) National Children and Seniors Championships.
While congratulating his members for their accomplishments, sensei Stef Biagioni gave special mention to two of his martial artists, Sarah Rotshtein and his son Alessandro for their results in the South African Championships.

“Sarah achieved her first kumite South African championships gold medal. Alessandro achieved his first double gold medal – South African Championship title for kata and kumite – which is very rare for Karate South Africa. He has also won his kata division for the ninth year and it’s the first time he won the kumite division,” he said.

Alessandro Biagioni, athlete at the Fourways Martial Arts Academy is named Gauteng Karate Federation athlete of the year and is ranked number one in the country in the kata and kumite categories.

Alessandro had also been named Gauteng Karate Federation athlete of the year and is ranked number one in the country in the kata and kumite categories. He has since received his Protea colours for the World Championship and African Cup Championship this year placing him 10th in the World and fifth in Africa.

He wished the martial artists the best of luck for the upcoming selection for the Proteas in the upcoming competitions:

  • African Region Five in South Africa
  • Croatia World Youth Cup League
  • Commonwealth Karate Championship in England
  • WKF (World Karate Federation) World Junior Championship in Turkey
  • Africa Cup in South Africa.
