Supporters, members and sponsors of the Fourways club gathered at the lapa area of the heritage site to look back at those who were involved in the inaugural event, whether it was behind the scenes or out in front with the community with sponsorships.

The event in October was hosted over two days – various art pieces from school learners to professional artists were on display and for sale alongside calendars with the art pieces printed. There was also live music, food stalls and creative pieces on sale in a market-styled layout, with a portion of proceeds put towards the upkeep in maintenance at Norscot Manor.
Club president of Fourways Main Reef Rotary, Jobst Schulte-Brader addressed attendees and gave feedback from the event with the hopes of hosting the event again next year. “The invite to this evening said it all. It’s a thank you for everybody’s help, support physically and financially, before, during and after the exhibition we held a month ago. It was our first, and certainly not the last event,” he said.

“It will be continued not only because Norscot Manor needs our support and funding for important maintenance issues, but we also received some positive feedback from schools, artists and even the market stands with most already committing to the next one next year.”
With the positive feedback came some suggestions noted by the club for what they could improve on next year, including hosting the event in one of the colder months, improving the layout of the artwork displayed to mention a few possible changes.

“We were planning to hold a live auction on the second day, but that didn’t work out and we decided to postpone it and prepare properly for an online auction. We want to have it next year, with the date to be decided,” said Schulte-Brader.
A number of Rotary members, sponsors, and community members were given certificates of appreciation for their assistance in the fundraising event.
