Fourways resident part of winning adventure racing team that takes regional championship

The Expedition Africa 60km Regional Championship title went to a Treverton College team that includes a Fourways resident.

A Fourways resident and Grade 11 Treverton College learner placed first in a recent adventure racing competition alongside schoolmates and staff members.

The mixed team of four comprising local resident Jarred van Alphen, Kai Broom, head of outdoor pursuits Gary Townsend and junior staff member Chanelle Oosthuizen took part in the Clocolan Adventure Race. Held in the Free State, they were crowned the Expedition Africa 60km Regional Championship winners.

The race they took part in is the Clocolan Adventure Race which was the fifth out of five races in the Adventure Racing World Series in the Africa Series which is the regional championship. The multi-sport concept combined mountain biking, running/trekking, kayaking, and navigation.
