Get to know Fourways High School’s new head prefects

Head prefects Oregomoditse Mahlobo and Jordan Naidoo as they begin their tenure.

Fourways High School learners will be under new leadership following their councillor induction that took place recently.

A new prefect body will guide the school with their tribes, sports, spirit, culture and much more. They are set to be led by president head girl Oregomoditse Mahlobo and vice-president head boy Jordan Naidoo.
Following their appointments at the school, both said it was a surreal feeling but still felt excited at the appointment.
“When everyone comes in in Grade 8, you said that you’re going to be a head boy or head girl. To then actually be in the position, doesn’t feel real. It still feels like you’re in shock. But it is an amazing feeling, especially with the new blazers,” said Jordan.

With their tenure as presidents of the school already underway, there is the mutual goal and aim to create a safe and pleasant space for all learners to enjoy their time at Fourways High. That is also coupled with the aim of making the learners’ voices heard.
“As a councillor group in general, our goal is to create a happy environment as possible for every learner in this school in all the different aspects like sports, cultural and spirit,” said Oregomoditse.

“We also want to focus on the different things in our school like mental health that we don’t get to shine a light on much, which is why I’m really glad we’ve got committees for those things. I think it’s really important for people to know they are supported in this school.”
Jordan added that there is an aim to also appreciate diversity and all the different individuals in the school to empower them.
Both Jordan and Oregomoditse are involved in the school, with the former being involved in various sports like tennis, athletics and debating. The latter is involved in the SDP (Student Development Programme), volleyball, hospitality and major production.

Looking to the future, both have different career fields they would like to go into that cater to their interests.
“I’m quite interested in pursuing social work. I’m heavily involved in church and working with children, and it opened my eyes to the different things children are going through, so it created this desire to try and help,” said the head girl.
Jordan said that he would like to go into the IT field due to his interest in coding.
