Bright future ahead for talented violinist at Reddam House Helderfonein
The young violinist has played in many talent shows, eisteddfods, and musical soirees, and is a true professional.
Bijanne Pauw, a Grade 10 learner at Reddam House Helderfontein has been accepted into the prestigious Johannesburg Youth Orchestra Company.
The orchestra gives talented young people from Johannesburg and the greater Gauteng area the opportunity to become immersed in the life-changing joys of music.
Bijanne mastered playing the violin, which is one of the most difficult instruments to play, from a young age and has not looked back since.
She has played in many eisteddfods, talent shows, and musical soirées and is a true professional when it comes to playing for large audiences.
Some of Bijanne’s greatest violin achievements include the distinctions and merits she obtained for her recent Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams. ABRSM is a leading global music education body and provider of music exams overseeing more than 650 000 assessments in more than 90 countries every year.
Bijanne is currently practicing in a large orchestra of 140 people preparing for an Open Orchestra Concert at the Aula at the University of Pretoria.
To be selected to play in the Open Orchestra Concert is an incredible achievement as all classical musicians have to have a grade 5 and above in music to be able to play.
She aspires to become a wildlife veterinarian and game ranger one day, however, she said her love for playing the violin would always be a companion for her and hoped to one day participate in an international music festival.
“You can play many different genres on the violin and that is one of the reasons why the violin is my favourite instrument to play,” said Bijanne.
She added that her new violin teacher Miro Chakaryan who is also the concertmaster of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra has taught her many new techniques on how to improve her violin skills.
“The versatile sound that one can create with the violin makes me fall in love with the instrument time and again.”
Bijanne is also preparing for her upcoming Grade 7 ABRSM practical exam and grade 6 theory ABRSM exam.
