A Beaulieu Preparatory School learner is preparing for an upcoming youth world cup in Western riding.

Beaulieu Preparatory School learner Minki Venter is ready for the American Quarter Horse Association Youth World Cup in Texas next year.

Minki Venter (12) will represent South Africa alongside four other riders in next year’s AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) Youth World Cup in College Station, Texas from June 28 to July 8.

It is the second time Team South Africa will be heading to the world cup where they previously returned home with medals, and two of the riders were invited to return to the United States. During their time there, they were able to compete and train to bring back a wealth of experience and knowledge to grow the sport in the country.
With this being her first time representing her country in Western riding, Minki said she felt great honour in being chosen to represent South Africa in the sport.

Beaulieu Preparatory School’s Minki Venter takes a steady ride.

“I am proud that I can represent such an amazing country like South Africa, I will try my best to make my country proud and to stand tall for all that South Africa represents.
“I would like to broaden my knowledge of Western riding and would love to learn how to do cutting as we do not have it in our country,” she said.

With five years of riding experience under her belt, she has high hopes for her future in the sport.
“I would like to proceed to open riding and would like to connect more with my horses.”
