Local tennis player and radio presenter Patricia Marutha enjoys helping people

Riverside View-based radio presenter enjoys good food, travelling and helping others.

Riverside View-based tennis player, community radio presenter and aspiring sports journalist, Patricia Marutha said she enjoyed helping other young people in her neighbourhood achieve their dreams whether in sports or their academic lives.

The third-year sports journalist student at the University of Johannesburg said she also loved shopping, travelling, good food and keeping good company with her friends during her spare time.

She is one of the directors of the local netball team, Black Jaguars which was established amid Covid-19 Level 5 restrictions in 2020. The club aims to keep youngsters off the streets.

“I am self-motivated and always looking to take up any challenge. I like helping others, playing tennis and photographing. I have a collection of pictures that I shot in different social and political events that took place in Riverside, including those of President Cyril Ramaphosa.”

She attributed her strong character to her mother who raised her well in the absence of a father figure.

“I always thank God for the women that raised me under difficult conditions. I was raised very well and I’m grateful that my mother raised me the way she did. She always reminds me of how important it is to live my dreams and always aim for the best in life.”
