Revamped Game stores relaunch across South Africa

Changes and additions to the Game stores throughout the country saw a number of promotions and sales available for customers.

Game stores nationwide underwent a massive revamp process, both physical and online sites, which saw a number of community members engage on July 1.

Fourways Mall’s Game store saw many customers taking part in the Halfway Day sale that offers up to 50% off on a variety of products available. The sale in shops began from 08:00 until 20:00, with many people buying products online on Game’s refurbished websites from midnight.

Operations executive for Game Mark Calderwood said there have been a number of changes in the store in Fourways over the last 18 months, and that there have been significant changes in the store.
“Fourways is our project test store, so anything we want to try across the whole chain we test it out here first and check sales and then go from there. We’ve worked through the night with the revamp so that nothing is disrupted when customers are in the store.
“We’ve completely changed the layout of the store and done away with fresh food, where we have replaced it with new departments like clothing.”

Other services and deals offered that are currently being rolled out to a number of stores in the country include the introduction of TechSquad where customers can get assistance with their technological devices such as software, laptops and cellphones.
July saw a number of specials and discounts on offer for customers, some lasting one day, and others like the ‘Price Lock’ which keeps prices the same for three months to control the customers’ impact of inflation.

“Today ‘Halfway Day’ is a new promotion, the first time we’ve run it. It’s to celebrate the fact that we’ve made it through half the year. We’ve survived six months, so we put some promos in for just today.
“There are a few products that have really taken off throughout the country, and we had a high number of sales already by 05:00 this morning, so it’s really great,” he added.

Many items throughout stores in the country have been selling various items throughout the day, and Calderwood pointed out that there have been increased sales of gas products.
“It’s difficult to gauge the exact numbers since load-shedding has been so sporadic but regular. We’ve seen more sales in the two-plate gas burner as opposed to the two-plate electric stove.
“Within two to three hours, we sold out in gas burners. So we are seeing a great demand for gas products.”
