Fourways High School hosts district and provincial hockey tournament

Fourways High School saw the participation of hundreds of hockey players at the tournament.

Fourways High School hosted the district and provincial hockey tournament on June 11 and 12.

The tournament hosted a talented and athletic group of U12 and U13 players over the two days. “The kids have got some decent skills that I am very impressed with, the fitness and the speed that some of these kids have been running at and their ability to shoot, I’ve been very impressed,” said Murray Hansen, the provincial chairperson for primary school hockey for Southern Gauteng.

Kerry Ellis-Williams, the Fourways High School Alumni coordinator said about 600 boys and girls from Gauteng and the other provinces participated.
According to Ellis-Williams, the school last hosted this tournament in 2019.

“We are fortunate enough to be able to host it again this year, which is a great way to share the facilities with people and to show off the facilities that Fourways High School has and be able to welcome everybody here, it’s great to see the kids playing because they haven’t played in so long.”
