Douglasdale CPF chairperson Lizzy Mabena said, “I think by getting together as a group to pray and ask for, not only guidance but for protection on a daily basis, as we all go out to execute the various work that we do, is important. The type of work that the police do is not easy work, it is high risk and at any given time due to elements of crime they can be in the way of danger.”

Pastor Lawrence McCrystal said the church had an influence on the community and that it was important for them to be supportive of the police.
Colonel Moeti David Senna, the Visible Policing Commander of Douglasdale police said police couldn’t do all the work alone.

“The police are not operating in isolation and we need the community. We need the pastors because some of the crime that is committed like gender-based violence and child abuse is [behind closed doors] so the police cannot be there,” he concluded.
