Diepsloot Residents Association finally sends its donations to KZN floods victims after some delays

Spokesperson of the Diepsloot Residents Association said they were humbled by positive response from residents.

Diepsloot Residents Association said it has finally managed to send its donations to those affected by recent catastrophic floods in KwaZulu-Natal following some logistic delays.

The association had initially planned to send donations to affected communities on May 7, as reported in the Fourways Review article.

The residents association shipped more than 10 giant boxes filled with clothes, food, and toiletries on May 13 with the help of organisations like SA Harvest, Wot-if? Trust and MTM Hope non-profit organisation.

Spokesperson for the residents association, Joseph Mvelase said the delays were due to lack of transport and other logistic issues.

“We were unable to send our donations to the victims on the day we initially announced. Donations have, however, been sent to affected communities with the help of SA Harvest and other organisations. We hope that this donation will make a difference in the lives of those affected by floods in KwaZulu-Natal.”

He said residents of Diepsloot responded positively to their call.

“We would want to thank all those who donated towards this initiative. The response from members of the community was overwhelming. Some people donated from the little they have in order to help our brothers and sisters. We are very pleased with the response we’ve received from Diepsloot residents.”
