Ward 96 councillor calls upon members of the community to work with police in the fight against crime

Ward 96 councillor said police patrol vehicle will help in the fight against crime in Riverside.

Ward 96 councillor Rufus Maswazi has expressed his contentment with the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) efforts to curb crime in the Riverside area.

This was after Maswazi and Riverside Residents Association hosted a meeting with police to discuss issues of safety and security in the area on May 8.

He said a working partnership between police, community members and the business sector was very important and can help minimise crime in society.

He said the meeting with the police was a follow-up on the previous one. “Early this year, we had a meeting with Diepsloot Police Station management and residents raised a number of concerns about policing issues in the area. One of them was the lack of police’s timeous response when called by members of the community.

“I am happy that today the SAPS introduced a patrol car that will be dedicated to the Riverside area. I would like to thank the Diepsloot Police Station commander and his team for their efforts in making sure that Riverside gets its dedicated patrol car. I hope that this will help in the fight against crime in the area.”

Maswazi appealed to all members of the community to join the fight against crime by reporting any criminal activities in the area.
