IN TWEETS: Political parties react to the killing of Diepsloot foreign national, Elvis Nyathi

Political parties send their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The man that was reportedly attacked and killed by a mob in Dieplsoot has been identified as Elvis Nyathi. According to reports, Nyathi’s death follows after angry protestors allegedly arrived on March 6 and asked for his documents to prove that he is a legal immigrant, but he reportedly failed to produce the documents.

Various political parties took to social media on March 7 and shared their views on the matter.

ActionSA described the murder of Nyathi as a stain on our national conscience. “No person deserves to die because of their perceived immigration status. Those responsible must face the full might of the law for their heinous acts,” said the party.

The Economic Freedom, Fighters is set to visit the family of Nyathi and promises that justice will be served. ” We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones, who have been robbed in the most brutal manner, of a father, a husband and a son. May his soul rest in peace.”

 Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) is also set to visit the family.

 African Congress of People (ACP) said their hearts and prayers are with the Nyathi family. “Rest in power Elvis Nyathi, we will fight for justice until the end.”
