Honeydew club kick-starts Guide Dogs Association telethon

PAULSHOF – The South African Guide Dogs Association received a generous donation as they begin their first telethon to raise R1 million thanks to a bowling club based in Honeydew.

Honeydew Bowling Club presented the South African Guide-Dogs Association with an R8 000 cheque as a donation on March 21.

Club members Joss Lewis-Williams and Terry van Acker did the presentation as part of the association’s quest to raise R1 million in their first-ever telethon that began on March 23.
The bowling club has held an annual tournament, the Allen Lewis-Williams Memorial tournament since 2014 in honour of club members and regular supporters of the association, Lewis-Williams.

Since his passing in 2011, his brother Joss of Efore Electrical decided to organise a tournament which sees many bowlers from all over Gauteng raise funds for both the club and a charity in memory of his brother.

It was agreed in 2016 between Efore Electrical and the main sponsors, The Ribbon Collection that the association would be nominated as their charity of choice.
The following Efore Electrical suppliers also contributed towards the donation: Central Support Systems, Hellermann Tyton, ACDC Express Randburg and Flash.
