There were 500 participants who took part in a 600m swim in the newly launched lagoon, a 30km cycle route and 7km run.
Among the participants were well-known triathletes Hannah Newman, Nico Sterk, Armand du Toit, Shaun Wolfhaardt and Adriaan Myburgh. Seven-time Xterra World Champion Conrad Stoltz and Emma Pallant also took part in the morning’s events.

Newman (21) and Wolfhaardt (17) were named winners in the women’s and men’s categories with times of 02:06:48 and 01:49:04 respectively.
Newman said she was proud of her performance on the day. “I’m more of a road triathlon specialist, so this is a little out of my comfort zone. But it was a race to get some skills training in, and get my first race for the season ticked off.

Head of Auto & General Insurance Ricardo Coetzee extended his congratulations to all the winners on the day.
