NPO continues to make difference in communities

DIEPSLOOT – A number of clean-up and community events took place thanks to a local NPO partnering with various organisations in Gauteng and Limpopo.

A Diepsloot-based NPO kept the community in good spirits during last year’s festive season into the new year.

On December 18, the Cetric Foundation joined forces with UNIFY SA to donate Christmas food parcels to five families in Laezonia in Pretoria which contained rice, maize meal, sunflower oil, washing powder, tinned fish, beef, toothpaste, toilet paper, and sanitary towels.

On Boxing Day, the foundation partnered with another organisation to donate sanitary towels to community members at the Ga Moloi Sedibeng sports ground in Limpopo. The day’s events saw the foundation and Sekhukhune Sanitary Towels and Project also aid at the sports ground’s football and netball matches.

Founder of the foundation Cedric Mphofela said the response from the various organisations has been monumental in making a difference in the communities visited over the festive season.
“The success of the festive season for the foundation was made by people who donated the food parcel to the foundation and the future generation for helping us to our clean-ups.

“Our goals for this year is to do new projects to make gardens at ECD (Early Childhood Development) centres in Diepsloot in February, continue with clean-up and feed 10 people for this coming festive season. We also asking donation of seeds of Spanish cabbage, tomatoes and carrots.”

On December 30 and January 1, the foundation also managed to organise two clean-ups in Glen Cowie and Ga Moloi in Limpopo where 30 bags of litter were collected by the children in the area.
“We did the clean-ups with the future generation in the community. I’m so proud of them. They will also continue to clean there,” he concluded.
