Diepsloot-based Sepedi music artist thanks supporters after winning another Satma award

DIEPSLOOT– Sebata thanked music lovers and fans who voted him to win best Sepedi artist/group at the prestigious local traditional music awards.


Diepsloot-based musician and cultural activist, Tau Sebata has once again won the Best Sepedi Artist at the South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma).

The awards took place on November 27 in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

This year, Sebata was nominated in the best Sepedi artist/group category against Bana Ba Kgwale Cultural Group and Motlanalo.

He thanked music lovers and fans who voted him to win best Sepedi artist/group at the prestigious local traditional music awards. “Best Sepedi artist/group was the first category to be called on the stage, meaning I was the first on stage and also [grabbed the] first award at the event. The feeling was overwhelming, winning against the best was so exciting, and I like to thank the support from those who voted me, and you guys for telling my story, I really lack enough words to express my gratitude to my music fans,” he said.

“To my Facebook supporters ‘Team Tau Sebata’ and all my fans, I’m really grateful for their love and support for making sure that I bring this prestigious award home. I really thank them from the bottom of my heart. Not forgetting my manager – who is my manager and my fiancé Mosetsana Maake.”

Sebata said he was currently in studio recording his next extended play (EP) that will be released early next year.
