Diepsloot police arrested a 48-year-old suspect for the alleged rape of his girlfriend on November 5 in Ext 1.
The victim alleged she and boyfriend were at their place of residence on the day in question and he asked her for money for transport to go to work.
According to Diepsloot police spokesperson, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, she apparently told her partner she did not have money and suggested he stay with his brother since he stayed closer to the boyfriend’s workplace and he could come back home when he was not working.
“She further alleged that he started insulting her, accused her of cheating and that she must leave.
When the victim had finished packing her belongings to leave, he allegedly told her that she cannot leave before they have sex. The victim further alleged that he assaulted her before he raped her,” he said.
The suspect was arrested and charged with rape and common assault under domestic violence. He was scheduled to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on November 8.
