St Peter’s College Grade 12 learners shared their thoughts on finishing high school at their final assembly.
Parents, staff and learners gathered in the school hall on October 12 to celebrate sporting, cultural and academic achievements while receiving words of wisdom and encouragement as they head to their final exams.

Michael Kere said he is excited but nervous for the final stretch before the end of high school.
Another learner, Brandon Hawsey, said, “I honestly did not think we would get here. Not because we would not make it, but the year has felt so long especially with Covid. Everything was filled with uncertainty.”

Grade 12 learner, Sarah Garrett echoed statements of the others in her grade in regards to exams. “The school has definitely prepped us on how to write the exams. While nervous, I am feeling prepared in many ways. When we go into them [exams], I think we will be able to nail them,” she said.

“I’m honestly feeling very sad seeing some of my friends I won’t be seeing every day, but I [will definitely remain] in contact with a lot of people. We have already found ways to stay in touch going forward even though we are going to different universities.”

Teacher at the school Tasha Botha said the learners are well equipped for their upcoming finals, especially since seeing their efforts in the preliminary exams. “We have got strong candidates in this group and we are excited for the class for their exams,” she said.

“They need to believe, trust and be true to themselves. We know we are going to see them popping up all over the world in whatever career they get into,” Botha concluded.
