DAINFERN – A number of items were discovered by police during the O Kae Molao operation along William Nicol Drive and Broadacres Drive.

Police arrested 15 suspects during an O Kae Molao operation in the Douglasdale precinct on October 7.

The operation was led by Acting Johannesburg District Commissioner, Brigadier Azwindini Nengovhela and Acting Station Commander of Douglasdale Police Station, Colonel Moeti Senna.

Various stations in the district were also present at the operation along William Nicol and Broadacres drives, including Honeydew, Randburg, Diepsloot, Linden, Roodepoort, Florida, Bramley, Alexandra, Midrand, Sandringham and Sandton. Metro police and Gauteng Traffic also participated.

Of the 15 arrested, 13 were for non-compliance with the PSIRA act, according to Captain Mpho Tshetlhane of Douglasdale police. The others arrests were for murder, theft and malicious damage to property.

“During the operation the police also managed to recover a hijacked vehicle at [a mall in Cosmo City]. Liquor, bags of dagga, and six 25 litres of diesel which were found abandoned were also confiscated,” she said.

“This road is the way to Diepsloot, and is also the escape route to Alexandra and other areas. So, most of the time when people are using this route, they [criminals] hijack vehicles, and come with stolen goods or trucks, and they use specifically this road,” Tshetlhane concluded.

All arrested suspects will soon appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
