“I am here to learn and grow my game. I want to see how other countries play and learn their ways of playing. I then want to try and implement that into my own game. I’m not expecting a medal, all I want to achieve at the Fina World Championships is to grow myself in the game of water polo and get my name out there to the other countries participating,” he said.

Gibbs said he trained every day in the build-up to the tournament. “I did swim sets at every opportunity.”

He concluded, “I had to try and get myself fit enough and just kept my mind focused on training and pushing myself to keep focused on my goal of the Olympics knowing the U20 Fina World Championships is the first step to my goal.”
