The Lioness Netball Club receives a new kit from local non-profit organisation

CHARTWELL– Moagi said Khula cares about the welfare of young people, especially in disadvantaged communities.

A non-profit organisation that works to empower teenagers, donated training shoes to The Lioness Netball Club on June 26.

The generous donation was made by Khula LGT Community Youth Development Organisation. The Lioness Netball Club was founded by Fandis informal settlement community member Samu Sithole last year in order to help youngsters maintain their fitness and keep them away from the streets.

Deputy chairperson of Khula LGT Zandile Moagi said the organisation cares about the welfare of young people, especially those in disadvantaged communities. “Giving back and showing support is what Khula is all about. We support community initiatives aimed at helping youngsters keep their dreams alive. The condition of the playing field in this community is not conducive to play any type of sport, as there is a dumping site next to it which might put their health at risk and stop them from pursuing their dreams.

“We appeal to sponsors to assist with funding so that we can further assist these kids with essential needs and make their dream a reality.”

Founder of The Lioness Netball Club Samu Sithole said the players were very happy that they will have proper shoes to play with.

“In our society children are being used for drugs, some are being kidnapped and do a lot of other bad things. Seeing that as a parent really affected me, and that’s why I gathered them together to help them. We are happy to receive this gift from Khula LGT. This will encourage our players and help them to perform better in the field of play.”
