Local netball team receives donations from Fourways residents

RIVERSIDE VIEW – Black Jaguars co-founder and senior team captain, Samukelisiwe Mlambo thanked the Tomlinson family and urged other members of the public and business to lend a helping hand.


The management and players of Riverside View-based netball team, Black Jaguars have thanked Fourways residents Chantelle and her husband Lance Tomlinson for their generous gift to help the team reach its potential.

The couple recently donated three balls, a netball goal post, nets and training cones to the team which was formed last year with an aim to keep local youth out of the streets.

The Fourways Review published an article titled, Club takes youths from the streets to sports field [Week ending 9 April] in which the club pleaded for sponsorship and kits donations.

Black Jaguars co-founder and senior team captain, Samukelisiwe Mlambo thanked the Tomlinson family and urged other members of the public and business to lend a helping hand.

“We are very thankful to the Tomlinson family for their support. We were not expecting such a swift response from members of the community after we pleaded for help through Fourways Review not long ago.

“The donations we’ve received will go a long way and will help our team get proper training. We also appeal to other members of the public and businesses to lend a helping hand to take the youth of Riverside View out of the streets. We also received a kit from a community member residing in the area for our U-15 team.”

Chantelle said, “We saw the article in the Fourways Review and decided to contact Samukelisiwe to lend a helping hand to the team. Our girls both play netball and we had some goal posts and other stuff that they were using and we agreed to share with the team in need for the love of the sport.”

She concluded, “We strongly believe that sport plays a crucial role in community building.”
