Seven to appear in court following Dieploot Okae Molao operation

DIEPSLOOT – On Saturday, 10 April into the early hours of the morning, police took to Diepsloot for the O Kae Molao operation for compliance checks of liquor outlets.

Operation Okae Molao saw seven suspects arrested in Diepsloot on 10 April and in the early hours of the next day.

Johannesburg District Commissioner, Major General Max Masha and Diepsloot Station Commander, Brigadier Koena Moichela led from the front during the operation which resulted in a number of arrests for selling liquor without a licence, contravention of the Disaster Management Act (DMA) and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said the operation’s focus areas were vehicle check points, compliance checks at liquor outlets and enforcing Covid-19 regulations.

“The police stopped at nothing in ensuring that non-compliance at liquor outlets is addressed decisively.

“One liquor outlet was closed for operating without a licence while four were closed and their managers arrested for contravening DMA regulations by operating after 11pm,” he said.

Masha expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the officers and said this operation would go a long way in

stamping the authority of the State in the Diepsloot area.

All suspects arrested during the operation will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
