Dainfern resident wants justice after police officer allegedly denied her justice

DAINFERN– Vos added that the officer was rude towards her and did not have his face mask on during their interactions.

Dainfern resident, Delia Vos has accused the police of denying her justice after one police officer allegedly refused to help her open a case for theft.

Vos said police came to her house on 11 February after two gadgets, a cell phone and a tablet disappeared in the house. “I called the police to help me open a case after my gadgets disappeared in the house. Two officers arrived at my house in the afternoon on 11 February. I told them that I wanted to open a case after my cell phone and tablet were stolen.
“To my surprise one police officer asked me if my gadgets were insured. I told him they were not and he said they can’t open a case for me if I don’t have insurance,” Vos said

Vos added that the officer was rude towards her and did not have his face mask on during their interactions. “The officer treated me like a criminal. The first thing he asked when he got into my house was the bathroom without even greeting us. The next day I went to Douglasdale Police Station to report the officer’s behaviour to the station management but nothing was done.
“I only received a call from one of the members of the management who told me that witnesses denied the allegations levelled against the officer. I don’t know who was that witness because those who were with me in the house had not be called.”

Vos said that she had been to the station to complain about the treatment, however, she did not lodge an official complaint.
Douglasdale Police Station spokesperson Captain Mpho Tshetlhane concluded, “The complainant is welcome to come and lodge an official complaint if she’s not satisfied with the service delivered by the members.”
