Courts are back in action at Dainfern Tennis Club

DAINFERN – Local tennis academy has a blast on the court again.

Tennis Inc is once again operating at Bryanston Sports Club and Dainfern Tennis Club.

The tennis academy resumed its lessons at the end of June when the lockdown Level 3 regulations were amended.

The academy normally also hosts lessons at St Stithians Girls’ College, Brescia House School and Beaulieu Preparatory School, but at the moment this is not possible.”We are all very happy to be back,” said Tennis Inc co-head coach, Adrian Corfield.

“But we need to follow some basic precautions to keep everyone safe. We are still running small groups, with maximum four people on court.

“Furthermore, names of people and their temperatures are recorded upon arrival. People must also wear face masks when not playing and keep social distancing. No extra people or siblings are allowed on the court. People must sanitise their hands before and after the lesson and tennis balls will also be sanitised before and after the lessons.”

Furthermore, people should avoid touching fences, benches and gates at the venues and no club facilities will be open except the toilets. Players should bring their own water bottles and not gather before or after lessons.

Corfield said if these protocols are met, tennis is a very safe sport and the chance of a virus spreading at the tennis venues is minimal. He, co-head coach Gaynor Harris and other coaches at Tennis Inc have expressed their excitement to be back, on the court too.Smiles between shots and cheers of encouragement ring out following every quality stroke.

While no high-fives can be exchanged, now and again a racket-tap is done between player and coach to celebrate.
